About Us

Welcome to Odenaansan where we provide resources to empower grassroots efforts to restore heart to our communities.  By fostering a cultural transformation rooted in Indigenous culture, we aid in increased self sufficiency and resilience.

At Odenaansan, we are committed to empowering Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities by providing the tools and infrastructure necessary for self-determination and sustainable futures. Guided by Anishinaabe law and traditions, we believe that true restoration begins when communities lead their own development.

We support the development of integrated sustainable infrastructure with our unified utility approach. By incorporating the best practices of modern sustainability with an Indigenous methodology, we envision a world where once again, all of creation is  in balance, and where cultural sovereignty with Indigenized  resource management are the foundations of economic and social well-being.

Our Vision

We envision a world where;

Indigenized governance  protects the land, water, and  and the young of all creation, restoring sacred relationships between people and the rest of creation.   Water access is a fundamental right, not a privilege, with sustainable solutions ensuring safe drinking water for all.

Indigenous wisdom and modern innovation converge to create development that is both culturally grounded and environmentally responsible. Communities have full sovereignty over their lands, energy, and resources, ensuring sustainable, self-reliant futures for generations to come.

Clean, renewable energy powers homes and economies, reducing dependence on harmful fuels and mitigating climate change. At Odenaansan, we are working toward a future where indigeneity guides our development practices—from villages to large urban projects.

Communities are supported in restoring Minobimaadziwin by providing the necessary resources for cultural transformation through the Integrated Community Development (ICD) approach which has been described as  a framework for social innovation.
The Integrated Community Development (ICD) approach is centered on the new three R’s of the Odenaansan Project which are necessary to accomplish the above vision;

  • Revitalization of indigenous culture
  • Regeneration of land
  • Restoration of heart to community

At Odenaansan, we believe that real change must begin at the grassroots, often among the most marginalized.  Our work is driven by prophecy, traditional indigenous knowledge and ceremony. It is supported by the best practices of deep Sustainability from colonial culture.  Every initiative we support is rooted in cultural sovereignty and self-determination. This brings true sustainability where all of creation is in balance.

Over the next few years, we hope to create a model which will help communities, to once again, be in balance and harmony with all creation .  We invite people from across the Great Lakes Basin—in both Turtle Island and Africa—to join us in this work. By using water as an organizing principle, as the Anishinaabe have done since time immemorial, we are part of a movement occurring around the world which is focused on earth based culture that restores heart to communities and brings Minobimaadzwin (the good life) back to all people.

Together, we can create a future where communities thrive in harmony with the Earth.

Background

THE SEVENTH FIRE PROPHECY

“In the time of the 7th Fire, there will arise a new people, the  Oskiibimaadzig, who will come back looking for the things that they had lost. Then, in the time of the 8th Fire, the Anishinaabe will lead all of humanity into a time of peace and harmony”. We are the new people.

This has been the driving force for Odenaansan and its driving framework for social development that we refer to as the Integrated Community Development Approach (ICD) approach
