Gift of Rain — Update

Date: April 28, 2025

Following our initial assessment in Agereger and the urgent need for water access, Odenaansan has decided to move forward with immediate action. While the larger Water Plus project remains in development, we recognize that the people of Agereger cannot wait. In light of this, Odenaansan has committed to funding the $2,000 CDN required for the rainwater harvesting solution directly from our own operational finances. This was made possible by the fact that we had just arranged for the operating capital we needed to complete the launch of Odenaansan.

This decision comes with a deep sense of relief, responsibility, and heartfelt joy. Over the past years, our team has patiently cultivated a cultural relationship with the Agereger community through listening, learning, and building trust. To now be able to act, even in this small but tangible way, fills us with gratitude and hope. We are genuinely excited to do something real, something meaningful, for a community that has welcomed us with such grace and openness.

With this support, we will be able to purchase and install four 5,000-litre rainwater storage tanks, distributed strategically across the village. This is particularly timely, as the area is currently experiencing its heavy rainy season. Capturing this rainfall will provide a much needed relief during the dry months ahead. While not a permanent fix, it is a positive step forward.

We want to take this moment to sincerely thank all the friends of Odenaansan who have continued to give support and cheer us on even when they had little to spare. Every small gift, word of encouragement, and shared vision has helped move this work forward. Though these tanks are not the full answer, we appreciate it as the beginning and we remain committed to seeing the Water Plus vision come to life in full within Agereger and other communities.

There is still much work ahead. But today, we celebrate this step forward, made possible by love and resilience.

Lastly we would love to recognize the generous, hospitable, and supportive heart of Kevin Best, whose presence and actions continue to bridge and connect us all.

Love and Light
